The best time to visit the Louvre is :

  • Best week Days to visit the Louvre  : Every Thursday or Friday
  • Best Months of the Year to visit the Louvre : January or February
  • Take a private Evening Tour of the Louvre on Wednesday or Friday : a Louvre by night !

If you want to avoid the crowds, you need to go to the Louvre on Thursday or Friday on January or February

How to avoid the crowd at the Louvre ?

As Versailles Palace is closed on Mondays, Tourists tend to go to the Louvre on Monday

So Avoid Mondays at the Louvre

Wednesday is the day when french people go to the Louvre with the kids on a school educational trip

Tuesday the Louvre is closed

From March to December : A lot of tourists travel to see the Louvre, they are about 13 Million visitors each year !

You will see lots of different people and cultures from around the world visiting the Louvre for the same purpose as you do :)

How to avoid the line in the Louvre ?

You need to hire a tour guide and make sure the tour guide is an official tour guide with a special card.

Avoid hiring tour guides without any credentials or authorization to guide,

How to see the most of the Louvre?

3 gates to explore the Louvre !

  1. Gate Denon : Mona Lisa, Renaissance, Biggest Paintings in the World ...
  2. Gate Sully : Egypt, Venus de Milo, Sleeping Hermaphrodite ...
  3. Gate Richelieu : Mesopotamia, Law code of Hammurabi , the Four Captives ...

What are the best visitors trails of the louvre ?

The best way to see everything is to begin by  Sully : see the Egypt Masterpieces, I personally enjoy the Scribe sculpture !

Then you can head to Venus de Milo and the sleeping Hermaphrodite

Then go to Denon to see Mona Lisa and the biggest painting like Feast at Cana and Liberty Leading the People .

You will also the famous sculpture of the Winged victory

At the end, go to Richelieu Gate as it is the most quiet and restful area of the Louvre, you can enjoy some art pieces from the Mesopotamia , khorsabad Lamassu that you can on my video below

Please don't miss out the Four Captive art piece !
