At first, all you see is the vast and magnificent building ensemble, the iconic glass pyramid, the regal courtyard right by the Seine river, the way the light hits the centuries-old facades of pale carved stone.
Then, let’s face it, there’s the crowd of eager visitors. You’re one amongst many to visit the most famous museum in the world.
But wait until someone takes you in...
Lucky me. Thanks to my parents, I’ve been a museum goer since my early childhood. Not that I always enjoyed it – you should have seen my siblings and myself trying to get out of visiting modern art museums when we were travelling to foreign cities. We would literally curl up in a ball and resist.
But back home, one place had my preference, and you would never have to drag me there.
The Louvre is one of the largest museums in the world.
Its wonderful collection exhibits about 35,000 works of art – so many that you would spend months standing in front of each and every one of them for more than a few minutes.
As a child, I used to love roaming its corridors and beautifully ornate halls, ignoring some of the masters I had yet no knowledge of but – I would run straight for the Egyptian section and its sarcophagi, which had my preference.
Even today, in my thirties, every time feels like the first. I step inside the courtyard and admire the building, taking it all in; the sense of place and history, the harmonious beauty.
But I also see how easy it is to get lost in its more than 60,000 square meters, or to plan a visit carefully – I am familiar with the disappointment one feels when the work of art you were eager to see happens to be located in an aisle which is closed on that particular day...
The Louvre can be overwhelming, its vastness and the crowds of visitors, especially when you don’t know your way around. But it’s also a fantastic place to enjoy as a child, an art student, or when you want to plan a romantic moment with your better half.
So, the great news is: there’s a Louvre visit for each and every one. Today I’m happy to be back at my favorite museum, as a professional organizing private tours.
Whether it’s your first time, if you’re travelling solo or with your family or friends, whether you wish to see the highlights in only two hours or spend a whole day inside the museum with your private guide, enjoying a themed tailor-made tour.
The Mesopotamian department, a moving and beautiful collection telling the story of the most ancient civilization to have ever existed. Read about our private Mesopotamia tour with a licensed specialist guide here.
We organized many special events such as a surprise proposal in the museum during a unique tour about iconic couples in Art History.
We also collaborated with a professional photographer to immortalize the moment.

The Louvre foundations. Following an underground walkway, you actually get to see - from up close - the original walls and towers of the Louvre, back when it was a 12th century fortress, all the while walking where the moats used to be!
We can organize private tour at 9am, starting by Richelieu Wing or a Louvre by Night.
We designed Louvre games for kids 3 - 5 and 6 to 12.
The guide can customize the tour to focus on a Queen, a King, or Napoleon in the Louvre : His paintings, his personal items, etc
If you are more into paintings or more into a sculpture, we can arrange a tour to fit your interest and optimize your time: See the best of Greek, Roman sculptures, the Anne D'Autriche section, etc.
I work with a small team of private guides having special skills. Some of them are contemporary artists, teachers, educators, lecturers or holders of a Master in one niche topic such as and not limited to: Jewish History, Christian Iconography in Art, History of Ideas, Greek Mythology, Philosophy Studies and Workshops for Youth.
